Rebekah Cummings

The CSQ is pleased to announce that Rebekah Cummings has won the fourth annual String Quartet Composition Competition with her piece Chasing Beauty!

Ms. Cummings a first year Master’s student in composition at the University of Toronto where she studies with Christos Hatzis. After graduating with honours of high distinction from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2012, she established an initiative in her hometown, Hamilton, to mentor young composers in composition and curate concerts of their new works.

Rebekah’s Bulgarian roots have inspired much of her music to date with a Balkan-infused flair, and her music has been performed internationally by a wide array of ensembles and soloists.
